Naya Rivera, known for her role as Santana in the “Glee” series, was pronounced dead on 13 July at the age of 33. The actress had been missing since July 8. She is believed to have been the victim of an accidental drowning…
Naya Rivera was born and raised in Santa Clarita, California. At about 9 months old, she is already represented by an artistic agent hired by her mother who wants her to follow the same path as her sister Nickayla, a professional model.
But the little girl finally prefers the camera to camera lenses and starts by doing a few commercials, before making her real debut as an actress in the series The Royal Family in which she plays Hillary Winston.
The success of the program and her outstanding performance earned her the Young Artist Award for Best Performance by a Young Actress. Naya Rivera finally became known to the general public thanks to Ryan Murphy’s musical series, Glee, in which she played Santana Lopez, a cheerleader of Hispanic origin, rather acerbic and struggling to come to terms with her homosexuality.
Initially secondary, her character becomes more and more important with each episode and she is quickly promoted to the main character. Her talent for music and acting earned her several awards as a singer and actress.
Her private life, unfortunately, does not know such a brilliant career path since Naya Rivera is accused of domestic violence in November 2017 by her future ex-husband. The charges were eventually dropped for lack of evidence.
On 8 July 2020, various American media reported the actress’s disappearance and presumed death via Ventura County. On a trip to Lake Piru in California, only her four-year-old son was found on their boat. According to the little boy, his mother went swimming but did not return.
On July 13, his body is found lifeless, seven years to the day after the death of his Glee partner, Cory Monteith. She is believed to have been the victim of an accidental drowning.
