Ivory Coast Attentive to its Diaspora!

The Caisse des Dépôts de Côte d’Ivoire will launch a new savings product for Ivorians in the diaspora, which is already appealing to international officials. It will be a vehicle for investing or preparing for retirement in the country.

The Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations de Côte d´Ivoire (CDC-CI) will soon offer a savings product to Ivorians in the Diaspora. Called “CDC Épargne Diaspora”, this product aims to guarantee financial security and facilitate the return to the country of the diaspora.

This product has received support from the Association of Ivorian International Civil Servants (AF2I). Which signed an agreement with the CDC-CI during a ceremony held on Thursday, September 10, 2020 in Abidjan, with the aim of making this project a reality.

“CDC Epargne Diaspora” seems to combine many advantages of products of this type, in particular the security of savings for the preparation of retirement, as well as insurance. Directly, fundraising will also allow Ivorians living outside their country to contribute to its economic development. CDC is involved in many infrastructure projects, both real estate and roads, in particular.

This savings product would combine several components, namely highly liquid savings available plus interest, access to financing for real estate projects and additional retirement savings in the Ivory Coast. The objective here is to facilitate the return of Ivorians from the diaspora.

The savings offers offered in Ivory Coast are ill-suited for the realization of their projects, consider the Ivorian non-resident officials. This is why CDC-CI will offer this savings product, which will be especially aimed at them.

“This project will not only allow the diaspora to channel and secure their savings and investment, but also to contribute to the economic development of our country; we will make this a reality” commented Lassina Fofana, Director General of CDC-CI. “We want the association of Ivorian international civil servants to subscribe to other CDC-CI products, because we are ready to support you,” he added.

Indeed, it seems that this signing is only a first step in the relationship between the institution and the non-profit association. By mission, the CDC guarantees the safe conservation and management of public and private funds while contributing to the financing of the economy through the mobilization of its resources.

Objectives that meet those of long-term savers. “We are satisfied with CDC-CI for this reliable and quality partnership, because our needs have been taken into account in this memorandum of understanding,” said Abou Bamba, president of AF2I.

Support for victims of Covid-19 in France!

As part of the implementation of the Ivorian government’s Covid-19 Solidarity Fund, a check presentation ceremony for people affected by the pandemic took place at the Embassy of Côte d’Ivoire in France in early September.

The ceremony chaired by the Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire in France, Maurice Kouakou Bandaman, recorded the presence of several Ivorian ministers, such as Mariatou Koné (Solidarity and social cohesion) as well as the director general of Ivorians living abroad, Issiaka Konate.

The Ivorian government has developed and implemented a national multisectoral response plan that includes the financial and material assistance component called the “Covid-19 Solidarity Fund” intended to support people and structures impacted by the pandemic

The government has decided to extend the benefit of this financial assistance to Ivorians living abroad affected by the consequences of this disease. In this context, 550 beneficiaries including 350 Ivorian students living in France have benefited from this aid.
These are families bereaved as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, students primarily non-scholarship holders, Ivorians who have lost their jobs … The associations of Ivorians in France who spread solidarity are also helped.

For his part, the Minister in charge of Youth Promotion and Youth Employment, Mamadou Touré, announced the installation at the Embassy of a branch of the Support Fund for Business Creation or business in Ivory Coast by young people from the diaspora living in France.

This fund is intended to support and encourage diaspora initiatives as well as the conditions for benefiting from economic, social and cultural support programs.

In its pilot phase, this fund will be endowed with 2 billion CFA francs (approximately 3 million euros); it will concern young people aged 18 to 40 from the diaspora who are planning to invest in Côte d’Ivoire.
